CHEMO DAY 79

CYCLE 4 DAY 16

out and about

Up and in to the shower before dashing out to visit one of my services that is an enabling environment. In such a rush that I realise that I have not taken my meds. I spend the morning with some of the team working through the work that they are doing in preparation for their assessment. It is always a pleasure to work with people that are committed to the ideas of enabling environments and willing to explore ideas and ways of doing things. My time with them flew by and I promised to drop in again if they wanted to run anything by me before their assessment. I went to the gym for hot chocolate and a sandwich and sat doing the crosswords for a while until the pull of the exercise machines took me off to the changing rooms. Once again I found my hour on the cross trainer hard work but burnt off 717 calories. I am not obsessional about the gym but it seems to me to be an important part of how I try to ameliorate the effects of the chemo. This cycle has felt different in that I feel vulnerable due to a sense of a compromised immune system.

I recover in the lounge downing a cold drink and make my way home. I sort out my travel arrangements for the week and tidy up some paper work noting that my professional insurance is due at the end of the month. My partner returns home from work and we ready oursleves to go and see Al Murray. I like his sharpness and sense of irony alongside his courage to poke fun at some of the more sacred cows. Brexit of course was on the menu. Home to soup and drugs before bed. Early start tomorrow as the car has to have its winter service, always an expensive day.
